The Veja V-10
The sporty Veja V10 trainers give a nod to retro design with their perforated details, thick wild rubber soles and responsibly-sourced leather uppers. Created to celebrate the brand’s 10th birthday, we have no doubt the Veja V10’s will be just as appealing 10 years on.
How to Style Veja Sneakers?
Not only is this Veja's first running shoe, it is also the world's first post-petroleum trainer. The product of four years of research, the Condor is 53% natural-based and recycled. The innovative Alveomesh upper is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and recycled materials including wild rubber from the Amazon. Achieve high performance without compromising on sustainability.
Given that Veja refuses to advertise, this forward-thinking French brand has amassed a loyal following and is now available in over 40 countries.
Created by Sébastien Kopp and François Morillion following a stint travelling across Asia, Africa and South America, the brand is rooted in fair trade values, ecological and environmental responsibility. Since 2004, it’s purchased more than 265 tones of organic, fair trade cotton directly from farmers across Brazil and Peru, has bought 195 tones of wild rubber from seringueiro communities in the Amazon forest and spent five years developing C.W.L – a leather alternative made from corn waste.
Why we love it
Veja doesn’t just create elegant, ultra-wearable trainers for men and women. Far from it. They ensure they have a positive impact on every touch point of the production chain. This means that the people harvesting Veja trainers’ raw materials receive a fair wage for their work, the seringueiros tapping rubber for Veja’s soles use their own special harvesting route that allows the trees to regenerate and ILO rules are strictly followed in its Rio Grande Do Sul factory.
Veja’s key pieces
Designed with a leather upper and classic low-top design, the Veja Esplar trainers are a comfortable everyday option. They feature the brand’s iconic V logo on the side and are constructed with an organic cotton lining for comfort and breathability.
Alternatively, one of the brand’s most eco-conscious styles, the Campo utilises corn waste and waxed cotton to create a buttery-soft leather-like upper. For a more sporty look, opt for the Veja Rio Branco, which is engineered with innovative Hexamesh fabric that’s made from recycled plastic bottles and organic cotton.
