Where it all began:

Adi Dassler registered the “Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik” in 1924 and later, at age 49, “Adi Dassler adidas Sportschuhfabrik”. It all started in his mother’s wash room in Bavaria, Germany, where the plucky entrepreneur aimed to create extraordinary products for sportsmen. Back then, his focus was on shoes, his screw-in football studs an innovative move that saw the brand propelled to international fame after the 1954 World Cup final. To hone his ideas and create truly useful products, the adidas founder met with Olympians and athletes, answering their needs with ever-evolving designs and prototypes. As the years went on, adidas continued to be a go-to for football teams, gymnasts, boxers and runners. In 1986, its influence even spilled over into pop culture after Run DMC released ‘my adidas’ and showcased adidas trainers at a concert. The rest, they say, is history.
