London's best post-workout brunches

Aaah, the almighty brunch. Singlehandedly the reason we lift the duvet to venture out of the bed at the weekend. Well not quite, but it's a damn good motivator, especially if you've managed to squeeze in a cheeky workout first thing.

The trouble is that in London, everyone seems to have jumped on the brunch wagon. So amidst all the choice, where is worth putting your money on the table in exchange for a glorious brunch? Who better to ask than king of post-workout brunches and London Brunch Club co-founder Stephen Adjaidoo.  Take it away Stephen!

BABABOOM

WHERE? Battersea, South London

Bababoom was formed in 2016 by 3 friends, comprising of 2 ultra runners and one skiier. Their middle eastern-inspired breakfast is amazing and you can try one of their popular margaritas at any time of day. They’re also open for dinner and we guarantee you that they serve up the best kebabs we’ve ever had.

For brunch we recommend their ‘Good Morning’ meat kebab, with Lamb merguez sausage, date glazed bacon and fried eggs, or ‘The Ultrarunner’, with 2 soft poached eggs, summer tabbouleh and fattoush salad.

Rum Kitchen brunch

RUM KITCHEN

WHERE? Notting Hill/Brixton/Soho

Recently refurbished and with a new menu, this West London favourite is just a stone’s throw from Portobello Market. Being slightly off the tourist route, it’s generally a little quieter but the food and atmosphere is certainly worth the slight detour if you’re headed along Portobello Road. Expect a big brunch menu with everything from healthy acai bowls to meaty Caribbean plates. And with their huge range of cocktails, we’ve heard it’s also a great place to party on a Friday and Saturday night.

Sunday Barnsbury

SUNDAY

 WHERE? Barnsbury, North London

With no website and no menu to look at before you visit, you’d be excused for overlooking SUNDAY. However, with a quick look at their Instagram, you’ll soon see why people happily queue for an hour at weekends to have breakfast and brunch here. Expect incredible, fresh ingredients and delicious combinations of food. The food is up there with the best brunches, if not the best. It’s THAT good!

THE BLUES KITCHEN

WHERE? Camden/Shoreditch/Brixton

Another one of our top picks, which is great any time of the day. In the morning they serve some great American classics (their pancakes are amazing!), some more unusual options (like the Creole Crab Benedict) plus some healthier options (their Healthy Breakfast includes poached or scrambled eggs, grilled avocado, roasted mushroom, goji berries & pistachios).

In the evening, chances are they’ll be playing some vintage funk n' soul at one of their club nights and you may be lucky enough to grab some of their great chicken wings free of charge.

 Ceviche brunch

CEVICHE

WHERE? Shoreditch, East London

This Peruvian kitchen offers wholesome superfood dishes and lots of interesting fusion cuisines. As the name suggests you’ll find lots of ceviche on the menu, but meat eaters and vegetarians are also very well catered for.

Ceviche is great for brunch, lunch or dinner. Just book ahead to avoid disappointment, unsurprisingly it gets very busy! And don’t leave without trying their signature Pisco Sour...
