How did you get started in fitness?
I have always engaged in sports & athletics & from a young age have always had a lot of energy and passion for movement. I am trained as a contemporary/commercial dancer so fitness is a big part of a dancer's weekly routine, it is something I have always done.
How did you turn it into a career?
I started teaching on the side of my dance career and I guess it just took over. Once I started teaching and learning how to deliver different concepts I became obsessed and have not looked back since.
Do you have a favourite: strength, Pilates, barre, something else?
Choosing one discipline is impossible for me. For me, the beauty of my training routine is being able to train through a multitude of disciplines. I tend to train via a particular method based on my mood, energy levels or for functionality and performance.
Who inspires you, why?
My grandmother. At the age of 80 she is still very active and independent. She always extends her arms to help others and is a source of light, happiness and joy. I have never seen anyone with as much energy as her, she is actually superwoman.
What are your current fitness goals?
My current goal is to master my own body-weight via gymnastics & callisthenics. I love working on my handstands and inversions.
What advice do have for people who are new to fitness?
Explore different training methods to find a style(or a few styles) that you enjoy. There are so many ways to embrace fitness. Life is way too short to not enjoy a workout!
What's the best advice you've ever received?
“Slowly is the fastest way.”
What do you like to do you spare time?
Roller skating, piano practice, dancing, cleaning & browsing Pinterest for interior design inspiration.
What does a healthy lifestyle mean to you?
A lifestyle that energises me and keeps me mentally and physically happy. A lil bit of everything in moderation is key, it's all about striking a balance. This is for areas of life.
1. Favourite workout music?
I love different a variety of genres, and listen to different ones depending on what I'm doing. If I'm doing some cardio training, I'll put on some house music; hip-hop for strength work; a bit of jazz during Pilates for a bit of flare.
2. My dream Sunday would be…
Pilates/yoga followed by an epic brunch with friends and then a glorious day spent in the park riding my bike whilst listening to my favourite songs.
3. What's something everyone should know about you?
I am making it all up and figuring it out as I go along.
4. What's something that's always in your gym bag?
Headphones & deodorant
5. Favourite brand at TSE?
Has to be Alo Yoga!
