#FriendshipGoals: Meet the fitness duos who are smashing it
As part of our International Women's week, we've been championing a series of #sweatunited events and interviews to promote the power of women coming together. With team sweats in mind, we caught up with some of our favourite fitness duos to discuss #friendship goals and the collective power of women in life and sport.
SOUL SISTERS FITNESS

HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN SPORTY?
Maddy - Yes, apart from 16-20 years old when I discovered boys.
Alex - yes pretty much exactly the same as my sister!
WHEN DID YOU DECIDE TO START WORKING TOGETHER?
Maddy - We have always worked out together, but it was only when Alex qualified as a PT at the end of 2016 that we decided to set up a business together and create Soul Sisters fitness!
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT MOST FROM WORKING AS A PAIR?
Maddy - Alex has given me the confidence to take what I know to the social media world. Before I set up Soul Sisters I would never of had the confidence to teach a class, but now I feel super comfortable teaching a group of people.
Alex - I’ve learnt a great deal from my Sister as she has 10 more years of knowledge on me. She has been an incredible mentor and I’m super lucky to have someone like her teaching me what she knows.
WHAT'S THE HARDEST THING ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
Alex - When something annoys us we certainly don’t hold back... sometimes we can say pretty nasty things which you wouldn’t probably say to a non-family member who you work with!
WHAT'S YOUR FAVE WORKOUT MOVE?
Maddy - Deadlifts
Alex - Squat press
WHEN YOU'RE NOT GETTING ACTIVE, WHERE ARE WE MOST LIKELY TO FIND YOU?
Maddy - In my local park walking my dogs
Alex - In my local coffee shop

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT PTS?
Charlie: I think the biggest misconception is that we're all really fit and strong. The truth is that we're active but we're not superhuman. We can't do everything.
Jess: That's a good one. It is hard, because we're so busy training and planning other people's workouts to then try and get your own in.
WHAT WOMEN INSPIRE YOU MOST?
Jess: Women who are really self-motivated, always keen to get out of bed and focused on what they want.
Charlie: I agree. I work with a lot of mums and some of them juggle their career, their house, their family and their gym time. I think being a mum is like taking on a whole new job and that inspires me, when women still manage to do the things they love, even though they have a baby and might be getting no sleep!
WHAT TOP TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO WOMEN TRYING TO IMPROVE THEIR FITNESS?
Charlie: Find something that you enjoy. Whether that's a type of sport or a location that's near to your house, that will mean you'll keep going back.
Jess: I agree, no burpees then!
TARA MARGUILES + CHARLOTTE HOLMES
WHAT HAVE YOUR LEARNT MOST FROM WORKING OUT TOGETHER?
We've learnt so many new movements from training with her. Our training styles are different, so when we train together we share ideas and always end up learning from each other. Training as a pair has also taught us the importance of accountability, you can’t bail on a training session when the other is counting on you to be there!
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE FITNESS STUDIOS?
An empty space is usually enough. We’re lucky enough to be able to train anywhere and everywhere, which you’ll see from our Instagram profiles (@misscharholmes & @movewithTara). We’re both really big on bodyweight workouts and yoga, so we’ve recently been attending classes at Yotopia together and training at adidas studio LDN.
IF THE OTHER ONE WAS A WORKOUT MOVE, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Charlotte would be a burpee back flip because she's dynamic, always travelling and just a bit mad.
WHERE WILL WE MOST LIKELY FIND YOU AFTER A SWEAT SESH?
Are we allowed to say at the bar? Well either that or the nearest burger joint!
